The Following Review Is Of The Old Movietrak Service Which No Longer Exists.

Launched on January 1st 2000, Movietrak was Europe's first full service online DVD rental subscription service and has been providing customers throughout the UK with a high quality service ever since. These days, Movietrak has partnerships with Dixons Stores, AOL, The Guardian, lastminute.com, Room Service Deliveries & Empire Magazine amongst others.

Movietrack offers DVD rentals delivered direct to your door with no late fees, no delivery charges in either direction and no hidden charges. New customers can take advantage of a free 14 day trial of the movie renting service with the option to cancel at any time with no strings attached or continue renting movies with a choice of a one disc or two discs rental plan for the price of £7.95 and £13.95 respectively.

The Movietrak 1 disc plan is one of the cheapest around, certainly from the quality sites, so if you are do not watch that many movies each month then Movietrak are probably the best DVD rental site for your needs. For 2 discs however they are expensive when compared to their competition with, for example, both the excellent LOVEFiLM and ScreenSelect offering 3 Disc options for just £1 more.

Movietrak's service standards are not bad, emails are typically replied to within 24-48 hours and DVD turn-around, although not one of the fastest, is also not too shabby. MovieTrak does not, however, have a customer support telephone number which is unfortunate.

The website design is very simplistic with few real standout features. Browsing options are a little disappointing as you can only browse by genre and there are few additional features to help you find movies you've never heard of and the search function is very basic.

In all, Movietrak is an "O.K." dvd rental site with no real standout features to have you singing its praises whilst at the same time, offering no real problems either. A maximum of 2 DVDs at a time means many users will be lured away to the more popular 3+ services offered by other rental sites but if you only need a "1 DVD at a time" subscription then the MovieTrak online film rental service offers great value for money.
