The first thing you will notice when you visit eHit is that they specialise in Asian DVD rentals but if that's not your thing then DO NOT let that put you off because their range of mainstream Western and Hollywood movies is equally as large as that offered by many of their competitors.
The eHit online DVD rental service works in much the same way as all the other internet movie hire companies out there with a few minor differences. Once again, you make a wishlist of DVD movies you would like to receive, are sent them with postage paid and return them when you are finished in order to receive the next set of DVDs from your wish list. With most rental companies, each DVD is sent and returned in its own separate envelope but with eHit, you are sent and must return 2 DVDs at a time in the same envelope. This means you can not watch one movie and return it straight away in order to expediate the next being sent to you but must wait until two are available for return which is a little annoying but shouldn't really cause too many problems since you can rent up to 8 titles at a time.
If you love Asian cinema, including Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Taiwanese movies and TV series, or Asian DVD rentals in general then eHit is a fantastic choice and you should already be clicking you way over there. The number of Asian DVD movie rentals on offer here is the most comprehensive we personally have come across from a movie rental service either online or off. However, their selection of non-Asian movies is also impressive, maybe not compared to Netflix or in comparison with GamesnFlix, but still very impressive.
eHit is also one of the best for boxsets and TV series rental we have seen. eHit has a special way of organising their TV series and boxset rentals which allows you to rent an entire series at one time, rather than one disc at a time as their competitors do (and then often sending them in the wrong order or making you wait ages before the next disc in the series becomes available). eHit circumvents this kind of nonsense with a very simple points system which makes you wonder why none of the other companies offer a similar service. If you rent a lot of TV shows then eHit is a company you should seriously consider checking out as you'll get a much smoother rental experience here.
Pricing is quite competitive also. Netflix offers a 3 DVD rental subscription package for $17.95 a month, whilst eHit does a 4 disc package for $19.95 which compares favourably, plus there is the option to rent up to eight movies at a time which is also very nice indeed.
In all, eHit offers an efficient online DVD movie rental service whcih excels in the areas of Asian DVD rental and TV series boxsets and is pretty good for normal rents as well. Defintely worth giving the 10 day trial period a chance.
