AnotherDVD is a rental service we liked but find a little hard to recommend when we compare it with all the other sites out there.
For starters, the monthly rental subscription charges at AnotherDVD are highly uncompetitive, with 3 DVD rental package setting you back a hefty £20 a month compared to £14.99 a month at LOVE FiLM or for example. Even with an annual subscription this figure only falls to a £16.58 per month which is still more expensive.
This wouldn't be quite so bad were the selection of movies available for rental a little more impressive. AnotherDVD had around 2000 titles available the last we checked which doesn't compare too favourably with the likes of ScreenSelect with their 53,000+ titles and many of their competitors can boast 15,000+ at least.
We did, however, find the AnotherDVD website easy to use and very simple to browse around. As is to be expected, many of our test titles were not available for rental when we searched but most of the top new mainstream releases were. We also had prompt, courteous replies to our contact emails.
We had no problems with our trial of AnotherDVD, but couple the low number of DVDs available for rental with the somewhat over-inflated prices and it's hard to recommend this service to most users when there is so much competition around.
